Welcome to [ RGAP ] Research Grants Analytics Platform (referred to as RGAP, "we", or "us" in this document), available at rgap.anirban.ca. By accessing or using RGAP — with or without an account — you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.

RGAP is an independent, non-commercial project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Canada, NSERC, CIHR, SSHRC, or any other government body.

RGAP lets you search, browse, and analyze publicly available Canadian federal research grant data. The core features — search, filtering, analytics, and entity pages — are free and don't require an account. Creating an account adds personal features such as bookmarks, saved searches, and search history.

You must be at least 13 years old to use RGAP. If you create an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you're not creating it on someone else's behalf without their permission.

• You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure — your password if you registered with one, or your Google, GitHub, or Microsoft account if you sign in with a provider.
• You're responsible for activity that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password, revoke unrecognized sessions in account settings, and contact us.
• One person per account, please. Don't share accounts or sell/transfer them.
• You can delete your account at any time from account settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Use RGAP as a normal human being doing research, journalism, analysis, or plain curiosity, and we'll never have a problem. Specifically, you agree not to:

• Attempt to breach, probe, or circumvent RGAP's security, authentication, or rate protections
• Access other users' accounts or data
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download from the site in a way that degrades the service for others — if you need the raw data, it's freely available from the Government of Canada's open data portal, which is a better source anyway
• Use the service to send spam, distribute malware, or host abusive content in bookmark notes
• Misrepresent RGAP's analytics as official government statistics or as endorsed by any funding agency
• Use the service in any way that violates applicable law

We may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Where practical, we'll warn you first.

The grant, recipient, and institute data displayed on RGAP is published by the Government of Canada's research funding agencies under the Open Government Licence – Canada. You're free to reuse that underlying data under the terms of that licence, including for commercial purposes, with attribution to the Government of Canada.

RGAP presents this data as published, with periodic refreshes. We do not alter grant records, but we do normalize, aggregate, and visualize them. We make no guarantee that the data is complete, current, or error-free. Records may lag the agencies' own publications, and amendments may take time to appear. If a record about you is wrong at the source, the funding agency — not RGAP — is the place to correct it.

Bookmark notes and saved searches you create belong to you. By saving them on RGAP you grant us the limited right to store and display them back to you — that's the whole purpose, and nothing in these terms gives us the right to publish them or share them with other users. Aggregate, anonymized search counts power the "Popular Searches" feature, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Don't store content in notes that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights. We reserve the right to remove such content and, in serious cases, the account that created it.

The RGAP name, design, and interface are ours. The RGAP source code is available under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0); if you reuse the code, the terms of that licence apply to your copy. Nothing in these terms grants you rights to the underlying government data beyond the Open Government Licence, or to RGAP's branding.

Signing in with Google, GitHub, or Microsoft is subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies. RGAP also relies on infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email delivery) described in the Privacy Policy. We're not responsible for outages or actions of those third parties, though we'll always do our best to keep the service running smoothly.

RGAP is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or availability. In plain language:

• The analytics are derived from public data that may contain errors at the source — verify anything important against official records before relying on it.
• Do not use RGAP as the sole basis for funding decisions, legal claims, hiring decisions, or academic evaluations.
• The service may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time. We'll give reasonable notice of a permanent shutdown so you can export what you need.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RGAP and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to CAD $50. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

If your misuse of RGAP in breach of these terms causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages arising from that claim.

You can stop using RGAP, or delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the service (or any account) for breach of these terms, for legal reasons, or if the service is discontinued. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including sections 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12 — survive.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll add a notice on the site or email account holders. Continuing to use RGAP after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
